An average of 10 to 20 patients, the majority of whom need oxygen treatment, wait outside these hospitals for beds at any given time. Although ambulances queue on one side, there is a longer line for Covid vaccines and Remdesivir drugs on the other.
Many Covid-19 patients around the city are in a mad rush to get oxygen beds every day, sending out SOS warnings on social media channels. This wasn't the case in the first phase, when the number of asymptomatic patients recovering at home was higher, according to doctors.
