On Saturday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced Rs 5 lakh financial aid to children who lost both parents in the Covid-19 pandemic. With this step, the state has entered the group of states who have already declared financial assistance to children who lost their parents in the second wave of the Covid pandemic. States like Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Uttarakhand, and Chhattisgarh have already announced financial support for such kids. Delhi will bear the cost of education and upbringing of children who lost their parents and the Andhra Pradesh government will deposit ₹10 lakh for every child orphaned by the virus.
