However, it is unlikely that he will be joining the Olympic team this year as the process is in its last stage. Wrestlers are flying out to train abroad already for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo. The Wrestling Federation of India maintains that the wrestler has not done anything unethical. The federation has said that Sumit Malik was injured for a while during which time he took drugs which might have resulted in testing positive in the dope test.
