as posted by the channelOn Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the Maratha reservation issue as well as financial assistance for cyclone recovery. Thackeray was accompanied by Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister and a top NCP politician, and Ashok Chavan, a senior Congress leader. Following the meeting, CM Thackeray held a press conference where he stated that he discussed matters such as the Maratha reservation, the Metro car shed, and GST compensation with Prime Minister Modi. Mr Thackeray wrote to the Prime Minister last month, requesting that he take steps to classify the Maratha group in the state as a Socially and Educationally Backward Caste, allowing them to seek education (12%) and job reservation (13 per cent).
