In the summer of May 1999, the Kargil sector, which is now in Ladakh, used to be in Jammu and Kashmir, where the armies of India and Pakistan were face to face for 60 days. During this war, many soldiers gave their lives to protect the country. Captain Vikram Batra and Captain Batra were martyred in the Kargil war, one of these battlefields. Lt Gen YK Joshi was the hero of the Kargil war. When the confrontation with China started in May 2020, some people called it the tensest situation since the Kargil war in 1999.
