Several incidents of dowry deaths in the past invited a lot of flak for Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and the state. Pinarayi Vijayan's government has now made it compulsory for all government employees to sign an undertaking, stating that they will not involve in dowry practices and will not promote it either. The undertaking is mandatory for all the male government employees in the state within one month of their marriage.
