Bihar registered at least 2.51 lakh excess deaths since the COVID pandemic in 2020 which are the total deaths occurring during the COVID crisis since the beginning of the pandemic back in March 2020. The figure of excess deaths is 48.6 times higher than the official number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths- 5,163- in the state during the same time period.
