She was receiving treatment in Mumbai Hospital. She was admitted to the hospital with post-COVID-19 complications. On February 6 her health deteriorated and she was moved to the ventilation. Since her situation was deteriorating the veteran singer was put under intensive therapy and she was slowly recovering. She was bestowed with Padma Bhushan award in the year 1969.
