45:49Now PlayingOn The Urban Debate, with Heena Gambhir, we discuss the recent report released by Mumbai Police on the crime stats of Mumbai. The maximum city is often termed the 'safest city' in India. But the report begs to differ. It shows that crime against women and children were up by 21% in 2021. 5,496 cases of crimes against women and children were registered last year as compared to 4,539 in 2020. The overall increase in criminal cases from 2020 to 2021 amounts to 26%. The report has red flags and begs us to ask the question- will Mumbai lose its 'safe tag' soon? Heena Gambhir lays down the facts of the matter before welcoming our guests for the night. We are joined by Yashovardhan Azad, a former officer from the IPS, Kishore Tiwari, a leader from Shiv Sena, Asif Bhamla, spokesperson of Maharashtra BJP, Dr Raju Waghmare, spokesperson of Congress, Umang Sabharwal, women's rights activist.
