44:19Now PlayingIn this episode of The Urban Debate with Heena Gambhir, we discuss India’s GDP growth data that has been released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) today. In the latest updates, the Indian economy grew by 5.4% in Oct-Dec 2021 & is estimated to grow by 8.9% in FY22, according to the latest govt data. It is lower than what the NSO had predicted earlier. In its first advance estimates released in January, it had projected 9.2 percent growth for 2021-22 as against a contraction of 6.6 percent in 2020-21. The economy had grown by 20.3 percent in the first quarter of this fiscal due to the lower base effect. Today we are joined by expert guests to give their views on the issue. ”We are all predicting in a very uncertain world. We didn't know Omicron or Ukraine war would come,” said Prof Arun Kumar, Senior Economist. "Yes, today's no. definitely confirms the fear that we had,” said Nikhil Gupta, Chief Economist. "While you reduce indirect taxes, you can't reduce other indirect taxes because you have to go to GST council,” said Prof Arun Kumar, Senior Economist. Watch to know more! #GDP #FY22 #UrbanDebate
