The EC also stated that it needs a legal opinion on the same, after which a final decision will be made. The final decision and dates of the unification will be decided by the State Election Commission after 1 week. If a final decision on the unification is taken by the EC, Delhi will have only one civic body. There have been continuous faceoffs in Delhi between the civic bodies over various issues, after which the EC is planning to unify them, to ensure smooth functioning of the administration.
