as posted by the channelIn this episode of The Urban Debate, with Heena Gambhir, we discuss the Kerala High Court’s landmark judgement to set up an internal complaints committee for production houses for women's safety in cinema. The court on Thursday said that film production units have the responsibility to form an Internal Complaints Committee as per the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013. The court gave its order on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) for the establishment of a grievance redressal mechanism in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). The court's order comes in the aftermath of the sexual assault complaint filed by the Malayalam actress in 2017. "It is a good move. However, I am still hoping for a stronger verdict" said Ranjini, an Actor and Activist.
