The Delhi government has imposed a fine of Rs. 50 lakhs on North MCD for negligence as a landfill fire has raged on for the last three days. The decision was based on an investigation report provided to Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Thursday by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC). MCD was accused of negligence in the report. Minister Gopal Rai levied a Rs 50 lakh fine on MCD based on the findings. This is the fourth landfill fire in the national capital in just one month. On Tuesday, a massive fire broke out at North Delhi's Bhalswa landfill. Fire tenders are still trying to douse the fire.
