This figure has been controversial very hotly debated and has seen widely divergent claims. Now an official figure has come to light as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and it pegs the total COVID-19 deaths. So far 5,23,693, of these 1,48,994 took place in 2020, 3,32,492 took place in 2021 is almost double in the second year, when we saw the deadly second wave and 42,207 took place in 2022 till the month of May.
