According to the WHO, India's COVID death count is more than 47 lakh, from January 2020 to December 2021. On the other hand, India's official records quote that number as being 5 lakh. The Centre objected by questioning the validity and robustness of the methodology for data collection. The NTAGI Sub-committee Chair, Dr NK Arora, mentioned how India has managed to keep records of things during the pandemic and even before, with such a huge population. And it is unfortunate that the WHO does not find that data credible.
