In some breaking news from Karnataka, a group of leaders has arrived at the governor's residence to meet with the governor and submit a memorandum requesting that the government desist from enacting the Karnataka Right to Freedom of Religion Bill, 2021. The Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill was passed by the Legislative Assembly in December of last year, but it is now awaiting approval by the Legislative Council because the Bharatiya Janata Party does not have a majority in the house. The measure seeks to prevent religious conversion through marriage or other forms of incentive, such as free marriage and employment.
