as posted by the channelIn this episode of Beyond The Headlines, Tamanna Inamdar will take you through free speech in the country. Last week the Supreme Court put a pause on the Sedition Law under Section 124A of the IPC, which has made bail possible if booked and eligible.
Section 66A of the IT Act had also been scraped off, several years ago. It was used liberally by the government to target social media users and sedition was used to punish anyone who would disobey the government. These rules have been used by bending them to the will of the authorities. Everyone from Politicians and Journalists to Students and Celebrities has come under fire due to them. Has our free speech been hampered and compromised?
