A fare revision committee in as proposed a hike in travel tariffs in the capital, which might be accepted by the Delhi government. The recommendation committee has proposed tariff changes for auto rickshaws and taxis in the region. The proposal suggests increasing fares by 1 rupee/km for autos and a 60% hike for taxis.
This committee was formed after the rise in prices of CNG and other fuels and how it impacted the drivers and their income. Even though the Centre has cut down excise duty last week, the costs are still impacting the drivers as well as passengers.
