Following NCPCR's criticism about Maharashtra's circular, which said that a DCP's nod is required for the registration of FIRs under POCSO cases, Mumbai Commissioner Police has responded with a tweet. With a tweet, he cleared the air. "There will undoubtedly be some misconceptions," he said. We really don't want anybody to abuse the act, but if a majority of people reject the clause, we'll look into it, CP added. Remember that Sanjay Pandey, the city police commissioner, has ordered that cases of molestation or sexual crimes against minors be registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (Pocso) Act only after a recommendation from an assistant commissioner (ACP) and permission from a deputy commissioner of police (DCP).
