as posted by the channelIn a shocking incident, at least three people died of suspected heat stroke and many people were injured in a stampede-like at the Danda Mahotsav in West Bengal's Panihati.
Several devotees attended the 500-year-old Danda Mahotsav on Sunday morning at the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple in Panihati. As the religious event returned this year as the event had been cancelled for the previous two years because of the COVID-19 outbreak, public interest in participating was considerable.
However, due to the intense heat and humidity, around 50 devotees fell seriously ill, and three, including a lady, died.
The ill devotes were sent to local hospitals. Some of them are said to be in critical condition, according to various reports.
