as posted by the channelOn Tuesday, Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister, disclosed a new short-term recruitment policy for Indians to serve in the military. Termed as ‘Agnipath’, this scheme will allow young children from 17.5-21 years to be enlisted in any of the 3 services- “agniveers” for 4 years' tenure.
Singh renowned the Agnipath scheme as a ‘transformative initiative.’ He says that Agnipath may motivate a huge change and open up opportunities for the nation’s youth. He aforesaid that the Agnipath scheme can strengthen India's security and provide a new, youthful profile to the Indian military.
The Agnipath scheme was earlier termed as "Tour of Duty". It was launched in the presence of Rajnath Singh, Union Minister of Defence, along with the chiefs of the 3 services.
