"India has among the youngest populations in the world, yet it cannot continue to have an army with a high average age," he stated in an interview, arguing that the new system will ensure a more tech-savvy army.
Ajit Doval on Tuesday said the regimental system will remain untouched under the scheme.
"The concept of regiments, nobody is tinkering with it", he reaffirmed. He also strongly condemned the acts of violence and arson, speaking on the protests, he said vandalism is not justified, "those doing this are not the aspirants; the real ones are at home, preparing". Protests erupted in states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Jharkhand, and Assam.
