The full-body scanner scans and detects non-metal objects which are otherwise hard to detect with the door frame metal detector. Normally when we travel via the airport, there is a door-framed metal detector from which we pass and go to the security check area and the detector finds out case there are any metal objects that a passenger hides. But because of a full-body scanner, the security staff can also detect the non-metal components that the passengers are carrying. These objects might not be easily detected using a normal door-framed metal detector.
