Mekedatu Padayatra was relaunched in February and was supposed to reach the destination i.e. Bengaluru. The charge sheet was filed against Congress leaders like former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and party’s state president D K Shivakumar, accused of violating Covid-19 protocol. The padayatra was called on by the Congress demanding construction of the Mekedatu dam across the river Cauvery. The ‘Namma Neeru Namma Hakku’ padayatra, launched on January 9, was temporarily suspended due to rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in the State.
