Following the conclusion of voting in the presidential election, the meeting was held. This is the second occasion in as many days that opposition party leaders have met in this manner. They convened on Sunday to decide who would serve as vice president, and Margaret Alva, the speaker of the House of Representatives, was named to fill the position. Former Bengal governor and NDA vice presidential candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar officially announced his candidacy earlier in the day in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Saturday, BJP leader Jagat Prakash Nadda announced his name as the NDA's candidate for the position.
