The family has urged the Defence Minister to step in. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inquired about the MiG-21 crash with Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. He sent his condolences to the families of the two Air Warriors who perished in the incident.
Two pilots were killed in Rajasthan Sunday night when an Indian Air Force MiG-21 training fighter jet crashed in the Barmer area. According to Lok Bandu, the Barmer District Collector, the IAF jet crashed close to the Bhimda hamlet in Baytoo Block. Local administration personnel arrived at the scene and extinguished the plane's flames. The Indian Air Force said in a tweet that the twin-seat MiG-21 trainer aircraft was taking off from Utarlai air base for a training sortie. Near Barmer, the aircraft had an accident at around 9 o'clock. The IAF expressed its sincere sympathy for the lives lost and stated that it stood firmly by the grieving families.
