11:25Now PlayingIn this episode of the Urban Debate, Avni Raja will be discussing the merging of important exams in the country. The government intends to combine the national engineering and medical entrance tests under CUET by the next year, according to UGC Chair M Jagadesh Kumar. Now, this has triggered mixed reviews from the students, and discourse to find its implications and impact of it has been started. For undergraduate admissions to 90 universities, including 45 central universities, CUET was introduced this year. The number of applicants for CUET, according to officials, was 1.05 million, making it the second-largest exam after NEET, which saw 1.8 million. "I would welcome this idea. Word of caution is that takes time, take stakeholders into confidence & do not implement anything in hurry," says Furqan Qamar, Former Advisor (Education), Planning Commission of India. Watch out for a full discussion.
