She was arrested in connection with the fabrication of documents to frame high-ranking officials including the then chief minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi in the Gujarat riots in 2002. Gujarat high court issued a notice to the special investigation team of Gujarat to respond to the bail applications filed by Teesta Setalvad.
