Hijab Row: Hijab dispute reached the Supreme Court today. A major setback for the petitioning students is that the top court would not consider the NGO's findings. A group of petitions contesting the ban on wearing the hijab in educational institutions in Karnataka were heard by a Supreme Court bench made up of Justices Hemant Gupta and Sudhanshu Dhulia. 23 petitions total were presented to the bench. Some of these are writ petitions submitted directly to the Supreme Court asking for Muslim girl students' right to cover their heads in the hijab. Other cases include special leave applications that contest the Karnataka High Court's March 15 ruling upholding the hijab prohibition. Tune in for more.
