Students' petitions challenged the Karnataka High Court's judgment upholding the state's ban on Muslim girl students from wearing hijab. A Supreme Court bench comprised of Justices Hemant Gupta and Sudhanshu Dhulia entertained a slew of petitions challenging Karnataka's prohibition on women wearing hijabs in educational institutions. During the hearing, Karnataka Govt blamed the Popular Front of India (PFI) and said that it influenced petitioners. Meanwhile, Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia of the Supreme Court stated verbally that the Karnataka High Court should not have gotten involved in the issue of necessary religious practice.
