Two halls opened in Shopian and Pulwama after a long intermission for the movie lovers of the valley. The authorities opened two new halls in Shopian and Pulawama and a multiplex is supposed to open in Srinagar on September 20th. The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has said that more multiplexes will be opened soon to promote the culture of movie watching and going to the cinema in the valley. The Islamists did not allow cinema and cinema halls in Kashmir but after the abrogation of Article 370 by the Modi government, things are changing.
