YouTube Description
as posted by the channelIn this episode of Urban Debate with Shreya Dhondhial, the anchor will be discussing an unprecedented petition for a ban on meat and meat product advertisements made in the Bombay High Court by the three Jain trusts. The argument put out by the petitioners is that meat advertisements are disturbing and intimidating. Additionally, they claim in their petition that such meat advertisements influence young people in their community to become non-vegetarians. Additionally, it urged that courts order food manufacturers and companies to include warnings on their packaging stating "consumption of non-vegetarian food is damaging to health and the environment." In rejecting the argument, the court cited Article 19 of the Indian Constitution.
