In a major victory for the 'Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray party, the Bombay High Court directed the BMC on Thursday to accept Rutuja Latke's resignation for the upcoming Andheri (East) Assembly bypoll. Murji Patel of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed nomination papers for the Friday, November 3 Andheri East Assembly by-election. He is the joint candidate of the BJP and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction. Patel was accompanied by the BJP's Mumbai unit president Ashish Shelar, party MLC Pravin Darekar, and MLA Nitesh Rane in a show of strength.
