Three men were given the death sentence by a Delhi court in February 2014 after they were found guilty of raping and killing a 19-year-old woman in 2012. The Delhi High Court confirmed the death penalty on August 26, 2014. The victim's disfigured body was discovered in a field with various wounds from an assault including tools for cars and earthen pots, among other materials. Ravi Kumar, Rahul, and Vinod were found guilty of multiple offences including murder, rape, and kidnapping. Later, the Delhi High Court ruling was contested by the three convicts in the Supreme Court
