14:32Now PlayingCentral Government today filed an affidavit opposing the status of Schedule Caste for converted SC STs. A plea was filed in the supreme court seeking the continuation of the status of the scheduled caste that SC STs were given even after converting to another religion. The central government, in their affidavit, mentioned that people converting to Islam and Christianity could not be given the status of Schedule caste as there is no discrimination on the basis of caste in these religions. The Ministry of social justice and empowerment filed the affidavit in the supreme court. The Constitution of India does not give the status of scheduled caste to Dalits in Christianity and Islam.
