Social media has seen videos of a 17-year-old girl jumping out of a moving autorickshaw in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, following an alleged attempt at molestation. The girl suffered severe brain injuries and received care at a nearby municipal hospital. Syed Akbar Hameed, the driver of the vehicle, has been apprehended. He is accused of making lewd comments to the girl on November 13 as she was riding in his car after concluding her tuition courses. The girl got into the auto-rickshaw at noon, and the driver struck up a conversation with her while they were traveling. Joining the debate, political analyst Rajalakshmi Joshi said, ‘There is insensitivity in how survivors and victims are viewed.’
