2:15Now PlayingGujarat's Viramgam constituency, BJP chooses Patidar quota movement leader Hardik Patel as its candidate. Hardik will be running in his first election, is the youngest candidate now named in the current elections at the age of 28. Patel joined the Congress before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections was subsequently chosen to lead the state committee of the party as its working president. He did, however, leave in May of this year, complaining that he was being ignored by the party and given no responsibilities. In the Viramgam constituency, which is represented by Congress MLA Lakhabhai Bharwad, the BJP fielded a former leader of that party. The 28-year-old Patel, who represented the Gujarat Patidar quota agitation in 2015, had previously been a fierce opponent of the BJP.
