YouTube Description
as posted by the channelIn this episode of Urban Debate, the host Shreya Dhoundial will be discussing how the Maharashtra government established a two-person committee on Tuesday to coordinate legal and other related matters before the Supreme Court's hearing on Wednesday regarding the more than six-decade-old Belagavi border dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka. The latest vandalism and monument vandalism incidents along the Maharashtra-Karnataka border kept things tense. There is no question of giving up even a single inch of the state's boundary, according to Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, despite Maharashtra's demands that the border district of Belagavi should be their. He continued by saying that his government would be open to Kannadigas in areas of Maharashtra joining the state and passing resolutions to that effect.
We are joined by a few panelists.
"Maharashtra-Karnataka issue is not because of Belagavi, it's because of a Jath province in Sangli district," says Ali Daruwala, Maharashtra BJP.
"All states are part of India. But, people who have worked so hard for development of Maharahstra, will not let even a piece of the state go to any other state," says Sajid K Supariwala, Leader, Shiv Sena.
