Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of Karnataka, responded by saying that Fadnavis had made a provocative statement on the issue and that his dream will never come true. While there is no discussion of ceding any of the state's land, Bommai continued, Karnataka does desire Kannada-speaking regions of Maharashtra like Solapur and Akkalakot.
