Opposition tears into the Ekant Shinde govt & demands an answer on misuse. Vehicles purchased to address issues concerning women's safety in Maharashtra are now being used to provide Y-plus security to Shiv Sena MLAs and MPs led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. According to reports, up to 40 vehicles have been diverted under the Nirbhaya Fund to escort Shinde faction MLAs and MPs. Earlier this year, the Mumbai police department purchased 220 Boleros, 35 Ertigas, 313 Pulsar motorcycles, and 200 Activa two-wheelers with funds from the Nirbhaya fund. As a result, the National Congress Party (NCP) has demanded that the Maharashtra DGP immediately withdraw vehicles purchased through the Nirbhaya fund.
