BJP's Sushil Modi, who spoke against same-sex marriages in Parliament today said that while same-sex relationships are acceptable, allowing such marriages will give rise to problems on multiple levels, including "divorce and adoption". The MP objected to it in a social and cultural context earlier today in Rajya Sabha. The issue was raised in parliament today after four gay couples asked the Supreme Court to find a way to recognize same-sex marriages – a situation in which parliament is unlikely to intervene.
