Concerned about the threat to pedestrian safety posed by open manholes, the HC warned on Wednesday that municipal officials involved would be held accountable if anyone fell into one. The judges suggested during the hearing that the civic body use technology to find a permanent solution to the chronic problem of open manholes. Sensors can be used to sound an alarm if anyone tries to remove the manholes.
