On the basis of his age, he was let go. Since 2003, Shobhraj has been detained in a Nepali prison on suspicion of killing two American visitors. Additionally, the court mandated that he be deported within 15 days of being freed. South Asian authorities have named Charles Sobhraj as the suspect in numerous homicides. In the Netflix series "The Serpent," he was portrayed as a serial killer. Sobhraj, 73, has been imprisoned in Nepal since his arrest for the murder of two US visitors in 2003.
