Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar called Sonia Gandhi's remarks that the government is attempting to "delegitimize the judiciary" "inappropriate," and urged political leaders not to subject high constitutional offices to partisan stances. The chairman of the Upper House of Parliament stated that Gandhi's statement is far removed from his reflections because delegitimizing the judiciary is beyond his contemplation. "The observations are severely inappropriate and demonstrate a lack of faith in democracy," he said. She also accused the government of attempting to weaken the judiciary in the eyes of the public.
