Shankaracharya, a seer from the area had filed a plea in the top court seeking immediate rehabilitation of those affected in the sinking town. The Chief Justice of India has said that 'everything important does not have to come here' while dismissing the plea for urgent hearing of the matter. The plea will be heard on the 16th of January. Meanwhile, the town of Joshimath is sinking fast with thousands of people being evacuated from the area. Demolition of broken structures has also begun.
