2:47Now PlayingAfter a large protest was organised by the Panchamasali Lingayats community in Karnataka on Friday outside Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai's Shiggaon residence, demanding higher reservations in government jobs and educational institutions, Lingayat Seer was detained by the Karnataka Police. A smaller segment of the Veerashaiva-Lingayat group known as Panchamasali Lingayats is asking to be included to category 2A (15%) of the OBC reservation matrix. At the moment, they are below 3B (5%). The community has flatly rejected the state government's invitation to join the newly created 2D category of reserves and has persisted in seeking membership in the 2A group.
