Senior Attorney Abhishek Manu Singhvi pleaded with the bench presided over by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud during an urgent mentioning on Friday that the case involved AAP mayoral candidate Shelly Oberoi, who was requesting the court's intervention for holding the mayoral elections in a timely manner. The election was scheduled for January 24, but it was postponed because the LG-appointed presiding officer adjourned the House indefinitely in response to a commotion caused by some council members. An earlier commotion between AAP and BJP activists on January 6 forced the postponement of the mayoral election.
