He was detained in connection with an attack on security guards posted outside the renowned Gorakhnath temple in Uttar Pradesh Gorakhpur. Murtaza was also accused of having connections with terror outfits and had claimed to have attacked the temple as a response to alleged anti Muslim activities that have been in place.
