"Matter of pride and honor to be deployed here", says Captain Shiva Chauhan. She is the first female Indian Army officer to be posted at the world's highest battlefield Siachen. "Soldier is a gender-neutral word. Men or women, we're soldiers first", says Major Bhavna Syal. An Indian Army signal officer posted in eastern Ladakh, she provides strategic communication to troops deployed near LAC. "Army accommodative of women officers; never felt gender bias", says Major Beena Tiwari. She was part of Operation Dost, the Indian Army rescue team that was rushed to #Turkey after the earthquake.
