DMK's mouthpiece slams the Tamil Nadu governor for sending back the bill. On October 1, 2022, Governor Ravi approved an ordinance (banning wager-based online games of chance like Rummy and Poker), and on October 3, the government published a gazette notification. After the Bill was enacted on October 17 last year, the Tamil Nadu Legislature convened for a brief session. The Madras High Court invalidated portions of the Tamil Nadu Gambling and Police Laws (Amendment) Act 2021 that forbade wagering or making bets online on August 3, 2021, hence the Assembly was required to enact the Bill.
